Clothesline Art Show Opening Reception

Friday, December 1

Art Community University City & West Philly

50 years ago, before the Arts League became a building with a gallery enclosed by walls, it was an idea in the heads of a neighborhood group of artists who came together to exhibit artworks in the park. The work was hung on a clothesline and strung between the trees—a flexible and expanding art gallery—open to everyone and big enough to accommodate everyone’s creativity.

In the spirit of this, to celebrate our 50th Anniversary, we are making an art exhibit with you in the park. The Arts League is working with inspiring artists to create pop-up art-making events in West Philly parks during neighborhood festivals and events.

Please join us for the opening reception from 6-8 pm. Food, drinks, fun!
