24th Annual Woodworking Competition & Exhibition: Vessels
Through the Annual Woodworking Competition, the Museum seeks to encourage creative thinking and the development of new and imaginative designs for items of everyday use. This year’s theme, Vessels, was inspired by Wharton Esherick’s carved oak mug, which features the same curved, undulating lines revered throughout the Museum. This year’s exhibition continues Esherick’s tradition of masterfully merging function and beauty and is sure to surprise and delight!
The competition was juried by Laura Heemer - Curator of the Wharton Esherick Museum, Albert LeCoff - Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Art in Wood, and Mark Sfirri - Woodworker and Professor Emeritus at Bucks County Community College. Awards will be announced during the opening reception.
Please note that the opening reception for this exhibition will be held during our Annual Members’ Party, Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 2pm – 5pm. Tickets for members and non-members are $45 and can be purchased in advance.
The Exhibition will remain on view in our Visitor Center through December 30 and is free to the public after the opening. This does not include entry into the Museum - for which admission and advance reservations are required.
