Make Soup without Recipes

Tuesday, November 28

Community Parkway District

Starting with an assortment of typical winter groceries, Joy Manning and Marisa McClellan, food writers and co-hosts of the Local Mouthful podcast will teach you how to turn pantry staples and crisper odds and ends into warming, healthy soups for cold nights. This class will focus on soup making techniques. Students will leave with the skills and a basic, adjustable template to make a pot of soup from what they have on hand. We'll explore how to use this technique to eat well on a budget, minimize food waste, and eat more vegetables (even in winter). Plus, we'll make soup and enjoy eating a bowl together.

Tickets are $15 per person and preregistration is required via Eventbrite. Limited free admission for participants who are SNAP eligible. Please call 215-686-5323 or email kitchen@freelibrary.org to inquire about registering free of charge.
