Film Suburbs & Beyond

Rimas Tuminas reimagines Anton Chekov’s tale of broken illusions and dashed hopes by stripping the set to a minimalist tableau, giving all the space to the characters and their emotions. Featuring a cast of all-star Russian actors, including the inimitable Sergey Makovetskiy as Voynitsky, this production of the Russian stage classic won the Golden Mask Award for Best Drama.

Presented in Russian with English subtitles.
