Art At Lunch: 50 Years of Progress…and Some Backsliding: Women Artists 1970 – 2018
Wednesday, February 28
Nancy Heller, Professor of Art History at The University of the Arts, presents a richly illustrated talk considering what has, and has not, changed in the collecting, exhibiting, writing, lecturing, and thinking about women artists. She will also examine the broader political, socioeconomic, cultural, and aesthetic contexts for these developments. Museums that have demonstrated their commitment to the art of women (notably PAFA, the Brooklyn Museum, and Washington, DC’s National Museum of Women in the Arts) will be a focus of this lecture, along with examples and points taken from PAFA’s ongoing exhibition, Beyond Boundaries: Feminine Forms.
