Colors of Sound, Sounds of Color

Sunday, March 4

Art Suburbs & Beyond

After Irina and Stephanie's exciting concert at WAC two years ago, we are happy to announce that their next concert will take place on Sunday, March 4th, 2018!

Violinist Irina Schuck received her formal education in Russia, and was a member of several orchestras in Germany, Sweden, and Spain. In the US, Irina plays with various orchestras in Philadelphia as well as the Delaware Symphony and OperaDelaware Orchestras. Being a sought after teacher, she is a faculty member of the Nellie Berman School of Music and the Wayne Art Center. Like Stephanie Hoernes, Irina is a passionate chamber music player.

Irina and Stephanie met in 2003 on a chamber music tour of Scandinavia and quickly became inseparable friends in life and music. Because Stephanie, an Austrian pianist of outstanding experience in both solo and chamber music repertoire, has been invited to play recitals and teach masterclasses in California in March of 2018, WAC immediately took the opportunity to house a concert for them again.

For their program "Color of Sound" Irina and Stephanie have chosen the famous violin sonatas by C├ęsar Franck and Claude Debussy as well as several delightful pieces by Viennese violinist and composer Fritz Kreisler, music as iridescent and colorful as the paintings that will complement them.

Yes, extraordinarily, this concert will also be an exhibition, as Irina is not only a passionate musician, but also a gifted painter who often finds the time to exchange bow with brush!

On Sunday, March 4, 2018, be prepared to hear the "Colors of Sound" in the music and see the "Sounds of Color" in the paintings - a truly sensual experience!

Adults $20 ($25 at the door), students $10
