Following a one-night stand in an underground club, a musician and a married woman embark on an odyssey across the Iranian capital in search of an operation that can restore the appearance of virginity. Meanwhile, a single mother working as a prostitute attempts to conceal her livelihood as she befriends another family in her apartment complex. Captured in gritty and gorgeous rotoscoped animation, the characters of Tehran Taboo navigate the propriety-obsessed public sphere and its hidden underbelly in search of love, friendship, and survival.
