An artistic appreciation of one tree in Clark Park
Who can identify the tree on the corner of 43rd and Baltimore as you walk into Clark Park? It may be some kind of Dogwood though it is still bare and the dogwoods around it have all blossomed. I’m told it may be a Kousa but not a American and not a Cherry. It’s small and more delicate than the trees around it. You can look through the branches from outside the park and see chess games and sword play. You can look through the branches from inside the park and see trolleys passing and fruit stands. It has been climbed, tended, watched, sat under, and stripped bare by the wind. Who can identify this tree; what it is and what is has been for this neighborhood? This exhibit is an attempt to explore this question through conversation, stories, dance, sound, and art.
