Five-Day Intensive: Intro to Metal Clay w/ Chris Darway

Monday, July 9 through Friday, July 13

Art Suburbs & Beyond

This introduction class will cover basic techniques of the use of metal clay and its derivatives. The class is geared for the novice or experienced metal smith who wants to see what it's all about. Silver metal clay is made of fine silver powder mixed with a non -toxic organic binder and water. Fired in a kiln the silver particles fuse together to form a solid object which is then worked by traditional methods. Soldering, sawing, filing and polishing.

Metal-smiths and jewelers use it as a rapid prototype material for model making. For the beginner this is a great introduction to jewelry making. Rings, beads, pendants and earrings are all possible to make with this unique material. No prior skills required.
