Workshop: Impressionistic Oil Painting w/ Michele Byrne

Saturday, October 27 through Sunday, October 28

Art Suburbs & Beyond

For this class, Michelle will be teaching the impressionistic approach to oil painting-using thick paint, palette knife and bold brush strokes. Emphasis will be on design, value and composition to tell a story. The importance of composition and value will be discussed. Students will create a dynamic value study.

You will learn many different palate knife techniques and how to manipulate paint for different visual effects. Experimentation with other tools will also be covered. We will also spend time focusing on adding the figure to your paintings.

Each morning will start with a short demo and afterwards students will paint from photographs and Michele will work with students one on one.
