Sisters in Freedom : Screening and Panel Discussion

Sisters in Freedom is a new documentary from History Making Productions that tells the story of the brave black and white women who banded together to fight slavery before abolition. The filmmakers will bring the movie, discussion, and some historymaking lessons to Philadelphia’s neighborhood libraries throughout March.

On Wednesday February 27th at 6:30 pm, during the last week of Black History Month, the Free Library of Philadelphia and History Making Productions will open this Women’s History Month series with a screening of the complete documentary followed by a panel discussion. Writer Nathaniel Popkin will facilitate this panel which will include Dr. Emma Lapsansky-Werner (Haverford College) and Dr. Kate Oxx (St. Joseph’s University)
