Contemporary fiber artist Caitlin McCormack, famous for her sculptural works blending crochet with detailed figuration, will lead a class that explores the fundamentals of textile-based crafts to make artful, wearable objects and outfits. Students are encouraged to look at the world around them and to find new, even unconventional, materials to work with, blending yarn and fabrics in the process. Students will expand on the fundamentals of knitting, sewing, and crochet, using materials that may be specific to each participant or their wearable object. Students on any level will finish the class with an expanded understanding of fiber arts, and a body of work that reflects their creative journey.
