Saturday, March 2nd & Sunday, March 3rd from 10 AM to 4 PM
This two-day workshop will be an enjoyable adventure in painting on- site and in the studio. We will learn the advantages to painting in the studio and outside in the elements, weather permitting. Students will explore various approaches to working outside and indoors to effectively compose a two dimensional painting from the complex three dimensional landscape they see before them.
We will be using thumbnail sketches, a limited palette and the careful use of texture, line, shapes, colors and edges to achieve dynamic plein-air landscape paintings. Emphasis will be placed on the creative process so that paintings are more than just a strict representational image. Multiple demonstrations will be provided as well as group critiques and individual attention for each participant.
Watercolorists, mixed media, pastelists, gouache, and acrylic painters are all welcome.
